We're Back in the Saddle

Our few days on the BLM land just south of the Joshua Tree National Park proved to be disappointing.  We are well aware that we were totally spoiled by the Super Bloom we got to witness here last year.  This year everything was dry, dry, dry.  And pretty warm, too.
Then after two nearly sleepless nights due to very high winds, we decided to get the heck out.

So we are now on BLM land in the Saddle Mountain area of Arizona.  We are just a stone's throw from where we stayed last year.  (You can see our post from last year here.)  And it's great!  So quiet.  There is even a decent amount of desert flowers blooming right now.

Until last night, our evenings were pretty cool and the days were perfect.  Last night, the temperature stayed in the low 60's and it's pretty warm today.  Mid to high 80s.  We're enjoying the pretty sunsets again.

We're here about three weeks earlier than a year ago, and there seem to be more people around us.  But we are so spread out, we hardly notice them.

I'm enjoying the laid-back lifestyle this place affords us.  It's going to be hard to leave in a few days.

H took a few more photos while we were here.  You can see them in his Gallery.
