We hadn't had enough of BLM camping when we left Quartzsite, so we headed to a new campground about 100 miles east. We settled at the base of Saddle Mountain, which is about 50 miles west of Phoenix and just south of Tonopah (another town mentioned in "Willin", and now I've been to three of them).
This camp was even more dispersed than the first two BLM camps we stayed in. We were in a desert and surrounded by mountains, which I never got tired of staring at. There were tons of Saguaro cactus around, a few desert blooms, and H even found a little critter running around. There were a couple of farms near by, and a power plant was not too far away. But for the most part, there was very little civilization around.
Which was why our days were spent doing almost nothing. H obviously took his camera out for a stroll or two. And on the last day, we wandered around the area and checked out the other campsites for future reference. Got my steps in that day.
We caught three sunsets, and two of them were amazing! The nights were warm. And it was so very quiet. We were able to sleep with all our windows wide open, and there was just no noise. Not even a coyote. Being city people, this was a novelty for us.
We'll have good memories of this place. We've posted a lot of photos to H's Gallery, so take a peek.
