Well, it’s been almost a year since the last post. We had planned to take our RV out several more times over the year, but life threw us a couple of curve balls and the trailer stayed parked more than it got out. Once the dust settled though, we were able to enjoy a few short trips.
We managed to make it to Summer Camp during the first part of August. What we call Summer Camp is really a group of 10 – 15 couples who get together with their RVs at a group site on Lake Merwin in Washington. We spend a week to ten days playing on the lake, eating like royalty, and generally enjoying each other’s company. We even had a couple of movie nights under the stars.
During the first week of October, we spent some time at one of our favorite parks. It’s near the coast and we can back our trailer into a spot that overlooks a really nice river. This year, we had the place to ourselves. Probably because there are no hookups. I’m not allowed to say the name of the park on this blog. But I will say that on a clear night, you can see a large celestial orb reflecting the light of the sun...
We headed to Nehalem Bay State Park during the last weekend in October and met up with two couples. The Daughertys are new Summer Camp friends, and the Daileys are friends of ours from the Beaverton Rotary club. We took a field trip out to Nehalem Falls to see the fish jump. But, alas, the river was too high and the falls were almost non-existent. But that certainly did not ruin a very fun weekend.
We met my brother and sister-in-law, Les and Susan, the second weekend in November at South Beach State Park for a three-night trip. We visited Cape Perpetua so H could get more photos of Thor’s Well. And we had a great dinner at Nana’s Irish Pub in Newport.
Two days after Christmas, we made one final escape to Beverly Beach State Park to celebrate Susan’s big birthday and the New Year. My sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Bob, joined us and we had a delicious dinner at the Sea Hag in Depot Bay followed by a gorgeous sunset. On New Year’s Eve, four out of the six of us had managed to come down with bronchitis, sinus infections, or just a general malaise. Needless to say, it was a very quiet night.
So here we are in February already, and we’re getting ready to head South again to sunnier climates. We’ve given ourselves some more travel time and we’ll spend it either staying longer in some places, or travelling to other places we haven’t visited in the past.
The blog is fired up again and we hope you’ll join us for our 2020 travels.
