Camping Pampered Style

Our plan was to leave on Friday.  But a few weeks before we left, we got invited to join our Summer Camp friends for a four-night camping trip.  So, we extended our trip by two days and left on Wednesday instead. 

When we’re together, we call ourselves the Pampered Campers. Why? Well, these people have been camping together for many, many years.  (H and I are the newbies.) They have this camping thing down! They know where the best campgrounds are with the best meeting spaces so we can hang out together in relative comfort and be warm and dry no matter the weather. They know how to plan a menu so we can eat like kings and not spend all day preparing for it. And they know how to spend the time so no one is bored unless they want to be. Cards games, puzzles, napping, and brisk walks under the stars are just a few of the activities. There is also a good amount of time spent in our lounge chairs around the fire.

We met up with four other couples at the Champoeg State Park RV group site, which is only about 40 minutes away from our home.  But I’ve decided that’s the perfect distance to travel when you’ve just spent ten days at full tilt trying to get everything done that needs to get done before leaving on an extended trip.  It took a couple of days to finally get wound down.  Now I’m ready for the long travel days ahead of us. 

So, thanks friends, for inviting us. It was wonderful spending time with you, and this was a great way to start our trip. We are pampered indeed!
