That song was going through my head for two days. It's one of my favorite by Little Feat; although Linda Ronstadt did a good cover of it, too. I've got both on my Spotify playlist.
"I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonopah..."
We left the foothills of the mountains in the pouring rain and spent what felt like for-ev-er on the 99. (I know, I shouldn't whine.) We were in pretty farmland. We passed lots and lots of farms with thousands of blossoming trees. I think they were almond trees. We passed some orange groves, too. It's good to see where some of our food comes from.
When we hit Bakersfield, we turned left and headed back up into the mountains. Everything was green and it was gorgeous. When we had climbed almost 4000 ft, we arrived at Tehachapi.
Herb thinks I'm crazy--but when we pass through towns on our travels, I generally ask myself, "Is this someplace I could live?" Well, I think I could live in Tehachapi. At least for a little while. I imagine the winters are hard and the summers are dusty. But as we were driving through the town to get to our RV park, we saw quite a bit of the place. I felt like it had a good vibe.
We'll leave you with some Little Feat.
