It's been a long time since we've stayed in an RV resort like this. In fact, I think it's been over 21 years ago when we were on our motorhome trip with the kids.
While we were in Desert Hot Springs, we stayed at the Caliente Springs Resort. See this map of the resort? (Remember, you can click the image for a larger view.) Every one of those colored rectangles represents a trailer space.
These resorts are huge and usually very nice. They generally come with many services such as laundry, nice showers, pools, meeting rooms, and an activity calendar that would make your head spin. At our spot, we had water, sewer, electricity, and cable TV.
This particular resort had five mineral soaking pools, each one hotter than the next. While we were doing our laundry, we got a nice long soak in one of the pools. Then I made an attempt at using up all their hot water while I was in the shower. It felt so good! And my hair was so dirty, I knew our RV shower wasn't going to cut it.
As you can tell by the map and these pictures, we are stacked in here pretty close together. The structures on the other side of the road are called "Park Models", and they are a more permanent, albeit small, mobile type homes.
Not all resorts are this big; but many of the resorts down here are because they cater to the Snowbirds. Caliente Springs was full when we got there, so we were really staying in a small city.
There are many RVers that only stay in resorts like this. We aren't one of them. This was great for getting laundry and hot showers. It was a great place to stay while we played with our friends. But we also like being out in the wide open spaces. So three days at the resort was just right.
