TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9-

Well, the trains do run all night. The ear plugs helped some, but we still heard all the horn blasts. I finally got to where I could hear it without really waking up; but poor Herb was up most of the night I think. We got up and took hot showers to make us feel better. Poor us!! Then we ate a delicious breakfast that Herb fixed, packed up and got the heck out of there. One couple who has been there for three nights asked us if we were leaving because of the trains. Well, duh! They said they don't bother them. I think they're lying. And naturally, no trains passed from the time we got up until we left.

We stopped at the library to take care of a couple of things and then headed out of town. While we were getting gas, Herb got a call. The e-mail that we've been waiting five days for was finally sent. So we went back to the library and have been here ever since. Over two hours! This was supposed to be a travel day, but I don't know what we'll do now...

Well, we got out of there at 3:30 and decided to head down to the Big Arm campground on the West side of Flathead Lake since it was so late. We got Frosties at Wendy's and got out of Whitefish. Herb took two more calls while we were travelling South. The moral of the story is this: if you want your business to pick up--GO ON VACATION!

We were about 20 miles from Big Arm on Hwy 93, when we saw a sign for another state campground on Lake Mary Ronan. We turned around and decided to investigate. We found it and decided it was too good to pass up. It's back in the mountains a little ways and sits right on the lake. There are only two other campers here tonight not counting the camp host. It should be quiet!

There was another sign up about recent bear activity, so I asked Herb to check with the hosts as to what "recent" meant. They said it had been a couple of months and that it was a little one, so I guess it'll be ok. We got set up, then Herb got another call. So picture this: Herb standing on a picnic table in the hightest campsite in the place trying to keep his reception! I should've taken a shot of that for the blog.

We finally got dinner started as the sun started to go down. We had great bbq'd chicken with red wine (I bought a corkscrew today!), then sat by the fire and gazed at the stars until time to go to bed.

Another busy day...

What a pretty campsite (the only problem being that it still requires you to sleep on the ground!). You guys are so high tech/low tech right now.
